Practitioners, Shamans, or Healers
All cultures or groups have someone who is tasked with connecting both the group and the individual with the divine. It may be an appointed role based on familial ties, education, group hierarchy, or it may be a self-proclaimed role.
Folklore practitioners and groups may engage in both low-context and high-context divination rituals. Throwing a coin into a wishing well, or throwing salt over one's left shoulder are low-context rituals that are not typically planned or announced. High-context rituals meant to access the divine look like a tarot card reading or tea leaf reading, both of which require preparation from the practitioner and participation from the sitter.
